The EACOP, backed by the French oil company Total and the state-owned China National Offshore Oil Corporation, with the Ugandan and Tanzanian government's holding minority stakes, is a crude oil pipeline in planning since 2013 which, when in operation, will transport oil produced from Uganda’s Lake Albert oilfields to the port of Tanga in Tanzania, where the oil will then be sold onwards to world markets.
