A U.S. Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt II flies a routine mission over the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility January 9, 2025. A fearsome A-10 “Warthog” U.S warplane is seen conducting a show of force. An Air Force KC-135 Stratotanker offloaded fuel to the Thunderbolt II during a presence patrol over the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility on 9 January. The pictures were taken in an undisclosed location, with the area of responsibility (AOR) spaning across the Middle East, Central Asia, and parts of South Asia. KC-135 Stratotankers maintain a constant presence in the AOR, refueling U.S. and coalition aircraft and “preserving regional security relationships”, say the U.S. Air Force.
