Artist Conrad Shawcross poses with his artwork, Ringdown, which forms part of “Cosmic Titans”, a joint exhibition between the University of Nottingham's Lakeside Arts venue and its physics department, exploring the links between science and art, which opens on Saturday, January 25, 2025. Ringdown is an analogy of a black hole collision. Two spheres are spun bronze bellls with microphones inside that record their resonance and eventual collision. Analogous to the gravitational waves created when black holes merge. (Photo by James Glossop/The Times & Sunday Times)
