A Look at Life in Indonesia

A male Imblig Dhem dancer has some final touches applied to his make-up as he waits his turn during a traditional dance performance at a village in Wonosobo, Indonesia, 19 April 2025. Imblig Dhem Dance, also known as Kuda Kepang or horse braid dance, is a popular dance that is famous for being very energetic. Usually this dance is performed by 15-20 young dancers, both male and female, dressed in traditional clothes, accompanied by Javanese music, namely Gamelan. The dance uses a horse-drawn carriage made of woven bamboo and depicts horsemen practicing war. Imblig Dhem is a prime example of the numerous traditional Central Javanese arts that are still being preserved. (Photo by Adi Weda/EPA)
