Portuguese crisis began on November 7, 2023, when the Public Prosecutor's Office ordered a search that included the Prime Minister's office, the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Action and the Ministry of Infrastructure, while investigating active and passive corruption and prevarication in relation to concessions for lithium mining in northern Portugal, a project for a green hydrogen production plant and a project for a data center. This led to the resignation of Antonio Costa and the fall of Portugal's XXIII Constitutional Government. President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa decreed the dissolution of parliament on January 15, previously announced on November 09, 2023, and the calling of early legislative elections.
