Fishermen transfer fish cages to Gerence Bay where they will be fed until the end of the year in Urla district of Izmir, Turkiye on July 09, 2025. After completing the bluefin tuna fishing season in the Mediterranean, Turkish fishermen faced waves reaching up to 2 meters on their return journey and took special precautions while passing through the challenging Cesme Strait. Encountering waves of 2 to 3 meters in some areas of the strait, the crews used underwater lifting balloons to prevent damage to the 25-meter-deep cages in regions where the sea depth dropped to 1516 meters. In this way, the tuna were safely transported to Gerence Bay. (Photo by Mahmut Serdar Alakus/Anadolu via Getty Images)
