The local community of Dunoy is releasing a juvenile specimen in a small creek adjacent to the Disulap River. The release of juvenile crocodiles into the wild represents the culminating phase of the Head Start programme, which seeks to enhance hatchling survival rates and facilitate the recovery of the Philippine crocodile population. Crocodiles serve as a keystone species in freshwater ecosystems. (Photo by Giacomo d’Orlando/Siena awards festival 2025)
