In Nazirpur Union of Pirojpur district, Bangladesh, a farmer loads water hyacinths cultivated in his field onto a boat to sell on October 27, 2025. Each boatload of water hyacinths sells for around 30 dollars. These hyacinths are used to make floating vegetable beds. In waterlogged areas, farmers grow various vegetables on these floating beds made from hyacinths. This centuries-old innovative farming method ensures food production in flood-prone regions.
