York Maze is celebrating 25 years of The Gruffalo this year. Tom Pearcy, the creator, has cut over 5 km of pathways in his 15-acre field of over a million maize plants to mark The Gruffalo's 25th Birthday. Covering an area the size of eight Wembley football pitches, York Maze is believed to be the biggest in Europe and one of the largest in the world. When viewed from the air, the design shows a giant image of The Gruffalo, The Gruffalo's Child, and other animals from the story.
