Thirteen-year-old Mohammad Tareq Salih plays football with a crutch after losing one leg when the school where he had sought refuge during the early days of the war was hit, in Nuseirat, Gaza on November 11, 2025. Following the attack, doctors were forced to amputate the lower part of his leg. However, medical shortages led to an infection in the wound, and his leg had to be amputated again, this time above the previous point. Mohammad now faces a long and painful recovery, battling both the physical suffering and the deep psychological trauma brought on by the war. (Photo by Hassan Jedi/Anadolu via Getty Images)
