The Dragon Dance performs to worship Chinese gods and deities on the eve of the Vegetarian Festival at a Chinese shrine in Bangkok, Thailand, 20 October 2025. The Vegetarian Festival, also known as the Nine Emperor Gods Festival, is an annual Taoist celebration held during the ninth lunar month of the Chinese calendar, which falls this year from 21 to 29 October. During the nine-day period, worshippers abstain from eating meat, consume only vegetarian food, and perform merit-making rituals to cleanse both body and mind.
