ALL 2012 National Geographic Traveler Photo Contest – in HIGH RESOLUTION. Part 3: “Spontaneous Moments”, Weeks 1-6 (45 Photos)

“The Boy and the Beast”. To me, this image defines spontaneous. Spontaneous in that it was taken at about 1:30am after my 7 month old son decided he wanted to wake up and play with some toys. Spontaneous in that I decided at 1:30 in the morning to test my ability to trigger an off camera flash with the Nikon point and shoot I took this picture with. And spontaneous in that our dog Molly decided to walk in front of the camera and yawn the moment I took this shot. I love this picture. Our dog is being lit by the small flash on the point and shoot, my son is being lit by a hot shoe flash set to slave mode. Location: Issaquah, WA USA.
