“Deadliest Catch”. It is no wonder the labor department has named crab fishing on the Bering sea the single most dangerous job in America. Freezing temperatures and radically changing weather conditions account for the high rate of casualty. Despite the high pay, 80% of “greenhorns” do not return after their first sortie.
