“Upwelling – Mackarel in The Trawl Net and Mullet”. Upwelling, a phenomenon in which the deep waters in the ocean rise to the surface with the blowing winds, can be observed in so many places in the World. It causes the fish jammed in the shores of only Sinop and the Strait. It is known as fish murrain in the Strait and it is named as (upwelling) in Sinop, where it causes the rapid decrease of the temperature of water along the coasts from 27°C to 6-8°C. I found a chance to frame the shoals of Mullet and the fishermen who are fishing with the nets of the fishing boats in the shore. Therefore, upwelling has been documented for the first time. Photo location: İnceburun, Sinop, Black Sea, Turkey. (Photo and caption by Sertaç Çelik/National Geographic Photo Contest)
