The school of fish gather in front of diver David Castro with his camera

Californian photographer and conservationist Octavio Aburto had spent years photographing the school in Cabo Pulmo National Park, Mexico – and had been trying to capture this exact shot for three years. “Together with my friend David Castro, we were diving with a large group of Bigeye travellies at Cabo Pulmo National Park, Mexico. Thousands of fish forming a ball during the reproduction courtship. In the afternoon, these fish congregate to form a large spawning aggregation around the reefs of the National Park”. “Doctor fish is the name given to two species of fish: Garra rufa and Cyprinion macrostomus. Other nicknames include nibble fish, kangal fish, physio fish and doctorfishen; in non-medical contexts, Garra rufa is called the reddish log sucker. They live and breed in the outdoor pools of some Turkish spas, where they feed on the skin of patients with psoriasis. The fish are like combfishes in that they only consume the affected and dead areas of the skin, leaving the healthy skin to grow, with the outdoor location of the treatment bringing beneficial effects. The spas are not meant as a curative treatment option, only as a temporary alleviation of symptoms, and patients usually revisit the spas every few months”. – Wikipedia

Customers sit with their feet in a tank filled with 100-150 Garra Rufa fish which remove any dead skin by nibbling and sucking. A half hour session is then followed by a foot massage. It looks like an underwater tornado, but a diver was actually stuck in the middle of a huge school of fish. The fish swarmed around Mika Woyda in their thousands as she swam off the coast of Cabo Pulmo, Mexico. Before entering the water the couple, who live in Boulder, Colorado, had some shots in mind but never imagined what they would capture. Here: photographer Caine Delacy with his wife Mika Woyda. Rock Fishing In Sydney

A fisherman is seen standing on a cliff edge at Cape Bank in La Perouse on February 20, 2011 in Sydney, Australia. The practice of fishing from rock platforms, cliffs and rocky outcrops is notoriously dangerous with many anglers per year being washed into the ocean by dangerous surf or unexpected large waves. Angling is often reported as the sport having the highest mortality rate on average due to fishermen drowning with rocking fishing contributing to a high number of these deaths.
