Meerim Momunova wrestles with her fellow Kyrgyz teammate Anara Ryskulova during a performance of a traditional style of wrestling called “Alysh”. Momunova is a champion in Asia and has been competing since 2015, after a background in judo. According to Momunova, one of the advantages of “Alysh” is the ease of the uniform for women – even Muslim women who cover their faces can compete. Momunova holds a degree in sports coaching and hopes to see more women come into this sport. (Photo by Eleanor Moseman/The Guardian)

The Spirit of Ecstasy, also called “Emily”, “Silver Lady” or “Flying Lady,” was designed by English sculptor Charles Robinson Sykes and carries with her a story about a secret passion between John Walter Edward Douglas-Scott-Montagu (second Lord Montagu of Beaulieu after 1905, a pioneer of the automobile movement, and editor of The Car Illustrated magazine) and his love and the model for the emblem, his secretary Eleanor Velasco Thornton. “The Reward”. “A spot that a friend and I found that takes a bit of effort to get to. Needs the right swell and wind direction to come together for the backwash to really happen.
