Dartmoor National Park. Located in South Devon and just a 30 minute drive away from Exeter, the Dartmoor National Park features rushing rivers, sprawling moorland and spooky forests. This stunning backdrop was the main reason it was chosen as the setting for Steven Spielberg’s film, Warhorse. (Photo by Diana Jarvis/VisitEngland)

Every year National Parks Week gives visitors a chance to celebrate the incredible woodland spaces around the UK. This year the National Parks Week runs from 28 July – 3 August and there are 10 national parks across England to explore. The “Paolo Di Paolo: Lost World” exhibition presents more than 250 largely unseen images from the photographer’s archive. Di Paolo chronicled life in his country as an economic boom followed the destruction of the second world war. Although those were the years of la dolce vita he was an anti-paparazzo – he shunned the salacious and respected his subjects. The exhibition is at MAXXI, the National Museum of 21st Century Arts in Rome until 30 June. Here: Viareggio in 1959. (Photo by Paolo Di Paolo/National Museum of 21st Century Arts)

A Perseid meteor streaks across the sky over the community of Cold Creek on August 12, 2015 in the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area, Nevada. The annual display, known as the Perseid shower because the meteors appear to radiate from the constellation Perseus in the northeastern sky, is a result of Earth's orbit passing through debris from the comet Swift-Tuttle.
