Turkish tanks guard the Syrian border after mortar shells hit Turkish territory in Suruc district, near Sanliurfa, Turkey 29 September 2014. Mortar shells from the ongoing battles between Kurdish forces and the advancing Islamic State extremist militia in northern Syria have landed in Turkey, broadcaster CNN Turk reported. At least one shell landed in the morning, following three the previous evening that injured three people in Suruc, a border town. Turkey says some 130,000 refugees have fled the enclave since the beginning of the latest Islamic State offensive, in which the jihadists have captured dozens of mainly Kurdish villages. The Turkish government says about 140,000 people fled Kurdish villages in northern Syria to escape an ongoing multi-pronged attack by the Islamic State (IS) militant group. (Photo by Sedat Suna/EPA)
