The Week in Pictures: October 11 – October 18, 2014. Part 4/5

A ploughman demonstrates with a cultivator or “Scuffle” (R) drawn by a 1917 Fowler AA7 Steam Plough engine on day one of the 2014 “British National Ploughing Championships” on October 11, 2014 in Basingstoke, England. Over 200 ploughmen and women from across the country compete over two days in a range of classes on the 200 acre site in Hampshire. Classes range from conventional, reversible and horse-drawn ploughs, as well as classes for vintage tractors, ploughs and horticultural machinery, including steam engine ploughs. The art of ploughing helps to promote the improvement of soil structure by helping drainage and the preservation of the land for future generations of farmers. (Photo by Dan Kitwood/Getty Images)
