Between 2014-2015, India has banned at least two books, as many films, one state has banned eating beef, and the film censor board issued a list of words they consider unacceptable for the delicate ears of adult Indians. The bans show that this country of 1.2 billion continues to grapple with a complex tangle of deep sensitivity and a political process deeply entwined with religious and caste communities.
