Vendor Carmen Diaz, 84, is pulled by a market porter as she makes her way home at the end of her work day in the Oriental Market in Managua, Nicaragua, late Thursday, April 30, 2015. Known as “Chanita”, Diaz has worked since she was 8-years-old at the market, where she sells a hodgepodge of household items that include small piggy banks, coat hooks and liquid cleaners. Diaz has a herniated disc, and for the past two years has paid porters 10 cordobas (about 40 cents) to carry her to and from her stall on their carts used for transporting market goods.
