Peru Indigeneous Festival

This June 23, 2015 photo shows a bucket filled with the traditional fermented juice of cassava root, known locally as masato, and an empty bottle of Peruvian beer, during celebrations marking the 44th anniversary of the founding of the Otari Nativo village, Pichari, Peru. Masato, which is imbibed throughout the day by community members, including children, is made by boiling the root, chewing it and spitting into a container with water, then left to ferment.
