August 25 in History

A group of Cuban demonstrators consisting of twelve men, two boys and a woman, were arrested by police at Connie Mack Stadium in Philadelphia on August 25, 1963 after running onto the playing field in the 4th inning of a game between the Phillies and Pittsburgh Pirates. Tony Gonzales, left, walks away from the group who surrounded him in center field as they carried an America flag, Cuban flag and white banner with, “End Communism, Liberty for Cuba” on it.
