The Day in Photos – May 4, 2016

A picture made available on 02 May 2016 shows the Wolfgangsee Lake through the window of an oil-fired steam locomotive of the SchafbergBahn cogwheel railway near St. Wolfgang im Salzkammergut, some 285 kilometers southwest of Vienna, Austria, on 30 April 2016. The SchafbergBahn, with a maximum gradient of max 26 percent, is the steepest cogwheel railway in Austria, operating from April to October. Six coal-fired steam locomotives (since 1893), four oil-fired steam locomotives (since 1992) and one vintage diesel railcar pass the 5.8 kilometers long track leading up to the Schafbergspitze at 1,732 meters (5,682 ft) above sea level. The SchafbergBahn starts at its valley station at the bank of Wolfgangsee lake in Austrian province Upper Austria and crosses the provincial border to Salzburg. (Photo by Christian Bruna/EPA)
