A Look at Life in Afghanistan

People stranded at Pakistan-Afghanistan borders, also known as the Durand Line, wait for its opening after three consecutive days of its closure, Toorkham, Afghanistan, 12 May 2016. Hundreds of people from across the borders were stranded on either sides after talks between Pakistani and Afghan officials failed following a disagreement over the installation of barbed wire and putting up fences in Pakistani territory. The Durand Line, a 19th-century British-drawn boundary through the tribal Pashtun region dividing Pakistan and Afghanistan, has been a thorny topic between the two neighbours.
