Holy Water

A picture taken with a long shutter shows Nepalese Hindu pilgrims, also known as Bolboms, collecting holy water to worship Lord Shiva, the god of creation and destruction, at the Bagmati river in Kathmandu, Nepal, 08 August 2016. Hindu devotees from all over Nepal and India gathered in the northern holy city Sundarijal, 22 kilometers from Nepal's capital Kathmandu, to collect water that is claimed to be holy. The water is then stored in two small buckets, hanging on colorful wooden sticks and on their body. The journey will end after offering the holy water at the Pashupati temple, a biggest shrine of Hindus in Kathmandu. The Bolboms are not allowed to place the buckets on the ground until the end of their hours-long procession. Bolboms believe that all their sins and mistakes committed in life will be forgiven by taking part in this procession. (Photo by Narendra Shrestha/EPA)
