The White House cancelled the scheduled meeting between US President Barack Obama and Filipino President Rodrigo Duterte on the sideline of the on-going Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit to discuss the human rights situation in the Philippines, according to National Security Council spokesman Ned Price. Before leaving for the East Asia summit Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte told reporters that “plenty will be killed until the last pusher is out of the streets”, until the end of his campaign against illegal drugs. Figures released by the Philippine National Police (PNP) on 04 September showed that more than 2,400 alleged drug users and drug dealers have been killed since Duterte launched the bloody campaign over two months ago. According to PNP report, 1,011 have been killed in police operations, 1,391 recorded as deaths under investigation, most of them believed to have been killed by vigilantes. (Photo by Francis R.
