A handout photo made available by NASA Earth Observatory on 13 December 2017 shows an image acquired by the Operational Land Imager on the Landsat 8 satellite of an island unofficially known as Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha'apai in the South Pacific Ocean, 08 September 2017. The newly formed island was expected to last for just a few months after a submarine volcano erupted violently in the South Pacific in December 2014.
