Street Art around the World

Lou Chamberlin has been photographing street art in Melbourne, Australia, for more than a decade and, like the city, her new book, Burn City, has collected the best of it. Here: Manofdarkness, Melbourne CBD. The girls in the intricate stencil paintings by Manofdarkness are oblivious to onlookers. They are totally absorbed in what they are doing and display an innocence and a vulnerability that we seem to lose as adults. This is clear in the complex monochromatic figure of the girl holding a hummingbird. The greyscale palette of Manofdarkness helps to give his works a nostalgic and timeless quality.
