An undated handout photo made available by NOAA (National Marine Fisheries Service) Fisheries on 08 December 2018 shows a juvenile Hawaiian monk seal that was found with a spotted eel in its nose at French Frigate Shoals in the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands, Hawaii, USA. According to NOAA Fisheries, which has been working to monitor and protect endangered Hawaiian monk seals in the nearly past 40 years, said that they started seeing “eels in noses” in the last few years. Researchers have observed the phenomenon three or four times. The agency added that “We don't know if this is just some strange statistical anomaly or if we will see more eels in seals in the future”. (Photo by NOAA Fisheries/Brittany Dolan/EPA/EFE)
