The giant statue of Buddha in Leshan, southwest China's Sichuan Province was reopened to visitors in early April 2019 after undergoing repairs over the past six months. Standing at 71 meters tall at the confluence of three rivers, it is believed to be the world's tallest stone Buddha statue. It was carved out of a cliff face of Cretaceous red sandstone. It was its ninth large-scale repairs since 1949. The removal of the scaffolding is expected to complete by the end of March. (Photo by Imaginechina/Shutterstock)
