In this file photo taken on March 17, 2016 a macaque monkey stands in the heights of Gibraltar. The macaques of the Rock of Gibraltar are a popular tourist attraction, so much so that the government of the British enclave, has decided to reinforce their protection with a legal change that will make touching them a crime. “With the arrival of the COVID-19 disease, the Government will adopt strict measures to avoid contact with macaques and thus minimize their risk for contracting the disease and become sick or die”, emphasized the government in a note released on May 29, 2020.
