Two residents from the same household wear fairly lights as they take part in the Clap for Heroes event on January 14, 2021 in Saltburn-by-the-Sea, England. During the first Coronavirus pandemic lockdown, beginning in March 2020, people took to their doorsteps, windows and balconies on each Thursday for ten weeks to celebrate NHS staff and key workers with a round of applause. Founder of Clap for Carers, Annemarie Plas, said “We are bringing back the 8pm applause, in our 3rd lockdown”. This time it is renamed Clap for Heroes. (Photo by Ian Forsyth/Getty Images)
