This picture taken on February 21, 2021 shows gray seals and sea calves lying on a beach near Calais, northern France. According to a study by the Eco-Seals project in the Hauts-de-France region in 2018, about 1100 seals live in the region. In the Bay of Somme, the number of seals increased by 14.4% between 1990 and 2017 and by 20% for gray seals. Disturbed by walkers, the seals risk leaving their shoals, claim the specialists.
