Candidates for “Cholita Pacena” participate in their official presentation to the beauty pageant, in La Paz, Bolivia, 24 June 2021. La Paz will choose the “Cholita Pacena 2021” and the “Cholita Kurmi” among a score of young Aymara women, in a beauty contest in recognition of the identity of these emblematic women who are the cultural heritage of the city, the seat of the Government and the Bolivian Parliament. Dressed in the traditional borsalino hats or bowlers, wide skirts, elegant blouses and blankets and with long hair gathered in two braids, the young candidates were presented at an event in the Plaza Mayor of San Francisco, one of the most traditional in the historic center of La Paz.
