A 45-day-old American crocodile hatchling is measured during its periodic control at the Huachipa Zoo, Peru, on March 10, 2022. The zoo announced the birth in captivity of four American crocodiles, an endangered species, after a successful period of 78 days of artificial incubation from the eggs of a pair of adult crocodiles that live in the park. In Peru the species is known as “Tumbes” since their natural habitat are the mangroves of Tumbes, on the border with Ecuador. (Photo by Cris Bouroncle/AFP Photo)
