In 1972, the United Nations General Assembly designated 05 June as World Environment Day (WED). The first celebration, under the slogan 'One Planet Earth', took place in 1974. Over the years, the World Environment Day has become a global platform facilitating awareness and initiative to respond to urgent challenges, whether it's marine pollution, global warming, sustainable consumption or wildlife crime.
