Humans and Animals, Part 2/2

Abdulsamet Diab, 49, who lost both of his arms during the Assad regime's bombardment in Idlib, watches pigeons, in Syria on October 5, 2022. Diab wants to live out the remainder of his days alone with prosthetic help. In a 2014 bombing by the Assad regime, Diab, a resident of the Khan Sheikhun neighborhood in the northwest Syrian province of Idlib, lost both of his arms, one of his eyes, and his ability to walk. Diab is married and the father of five children. Due to the escalating attacks by the regime forces on the neighborhood, he is taking refuge in a camp in the village of Harbanus, to the north of the city, with the help of his kids and friends.
