Villagers are seen holding torches on the street as they take part in the celebration of the “Divina Pastora” Virgin procession. On the eve of the feast of St. Lucia in the small village of Casarabonela, every night of 12 December during the Christmas season villagers take part in the ancient celebration of “Los Rondeles” carrying burning wickers baskets (also known as “rondeles”) soaked in oil. Along the streets, the Virgin of “Los Rondeles” is honored by the devotees in a ritual of light and fire as thanksgiving for the harvest obtained.
