A Look at Life in Bangladesh

A circus worker climbs into what appears to be a colourful abyss. The worker was actually climbing up a tent pole as they prepared the stage at the 512 year old Gupinathpur fair in Joypurhat, Bangladesh on January 9, 2023. Estiak Ahmed Munna, 29, said: “It is a dangerous job, the pole is about 25 feet tall, but the workers are very experienced. They go to the top of the pole to decorate the circus stage. The workers are usually in the profession since their childhood and have seven to ten years experience. There are more than one hundred circus groups in Bangladesh, with about 20,000 people employed in the profession”. (Photo by Estiak Ahmed Munna/Solent News & Photo Agency)
