Art installation called “Coalescence” and created by British designer Paul Cocksedge, is unveiled at Liverpool Cathedral, in Liverpool, north west England on February 8, 2023. “Coalescence” is a six metres in diameter piece of art made up of thousands of pieces of UK sourced anthracite coal, which is high-lustre and low in impurities. Prompting questions around energy consumption, the history of fossil fuels and the need to reach net zero, it features over half a tonne of coal, which represents the amount of power needed to light one 200W light bulb for a year.
