An Orinoco Crocodile (Crocodylus intermedius) is pictured at the Leslie Pantin Zoo in Turmero, Aragua state, Venezuela on April 8, 2023. Some 220 specimens of a crocodile native to Venezuela and Colombia are released into the waters of the Capanaparo River, which runs through both countries, after being bred in captivity to save this huge predator from extinction. The Orinoco Crocodile (Crocodylus intermedius), which can exceed 6 metres in length and 400 kilos in weight, is critically endangered according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), a level of alert before its disappearance in its natural habitat.
