Pictures of the Year 2022, Part 036/163

People watch and take photos as a Bali mynah is released into the wild in Tabanan, Bali, Indonesia on April 19, 2022. Capture of the highly sought collector's item in the international cage bird trade for more than a century coupled with habitat loss led to the bird being listed as “critically endangered” in 1994. By 2001 only a few Bali mynahs were living in the wild with thousands in captivity across the globe, but, a conservation program over the past 10 years has seen success with population now estimated to be more than 400 throughout West Bali National Park.
