“Little Amal”, an international symbol of child refugees, visits in the city of Przemysl, southeastern Poland, 12 May 2022, in support of Ukrainian refugees arriving there. Little Amal represents a fictional nine-year-old Syrian migrant girl looking for her mother, embodying displaced children who lost their homes and were separated from their families. The 3.5-meter-tall puppet travelled 8,000 kilometers in support of refugees in 2021. Since 24 February, when Russia invaded Ukraine, some 3,317,000 million people have crossed the Polish-Ukrainian border into Poland, the Polish Border Guard has reported on 12 May morning.
