The Umpqua River reflects smoke and heat from the Cougar Creek Wildfire burning in the Tyee Ridge Complex in a rural area northwest of Roseburg Oregon on August 29, 2023. 183 people have been evacuated due to the blazes which were started by a series of lighting strikes on August 24th. The complex has burned about 3,000 acres and is 5% contained. Fifteen helicopter and 904 people are assigned to the fires which are burning in steep mountainous areas.
