A Look at Life in Afghanistan

Zarbineh Khaterzai, a 27-year-old former engineering student at Kabul University who now runs a painter's guild named Honar Sera Gallery, teaches Afghan girls painting skills in Kabul, Afghanistan on November 1, 2023. Kabul girls deprived of education due to school and university closures find solace and hope in an art class. Over 30 students regularly attend the class, using painting as a means of coping and personal growth. The class is organised by Honar Sera Gallery, a painter's guild headed by 27-year-old engineering student Zarbineh Khaterzai. Khaterzai, who is optimistic about the increasing number of students, believes that these talented girls have a promising future in art. (Photo by Samiullah Popal/EPA)
