Jameela, a western lowland gorilla, is being hand-reared by keepers after being born five weeks premature at Fort Worth Zoo, Texas. Vets intervened when her mother, Sekani, showed signed of preeclampsia, and an obstetrician more used to delivering human babies helped perform the zoo’s first emergency caesarian section.
