A Tar Barrel Man walks through the streets of Allendale carrying a flaming barrel in the annual Allendale Tar Barrel festival in Allendale, northern England, on the night between December 31, 2024 and January 1, 2025. The Tar Barrel Festival is a New Year celebration in the Northumberland village of Allendale which dates back to 1858. The festival involves a procession of 45 men carrying burning barrels filled with tar, sawdust, kindling and paraffin on their heads.
