A 35-year-old deaf and mute woman threatens to take her life after climbing up the supports of a sculpture in Omonia Square, Athens, on March 11, 2013. The woman, a single mother of two, was protesting serious delays in disability payments that have resulted from successive austerity measures in the crisis-hit country. The woman was later lifted to safety by fire fighters using a crane. She had carried out a similar protest at the same spot three months ago. (Photo by Petros Giannakouris/Associated Press)
