“Carnevale di Venezia”. Each year, the Carneval in Venice is celebrated prior to lent. History depicts a celebration whereby revellers would enjoy several weeks of partying to rid their pantry of meat prior to 40 days of fasting. Today the traditions continue with street parties, balls and events whereby revellers dress in a costume and mask. The City of Venice puts on a grand show of events and activities, including masked and costumed folk who willingly pose for the camera in the most scenic of backgrounds.
